Out of whack...

Confession time...I'm not one for serious organization. My desk is a prime example of that. Piles and piles of stuff but I know, for the most part, what is in each pile.  And I'm not one for a strict schedule either. I have a "sorta" routine but I'm flexible. I still get things done, and it works for me.

That said, these last two days, I've had no routine. I've not even had a schedule of any sorts. Hubby has been home from work so that means breakfast and lunch for him. Plus he tends to be a distraction. He left for work about 30 minutes ago so I'm in catch-up mode.

Thing is, I've got to get in a more scheduled day. I've got another major distraction coming soon and there must be routine and structure to the day.

Any structure/routine setting tips?  I love the "eat the frog first" analogy, though I don't always take that advice. Share your favorite ideas....please!

I'm not consistent, but I try to make a quick list in the morning and prioritize. I'm not a morning person though, and I let things distract me until about 10am. My biggest problem is self discipline. Lol.

What might help depends on a lot of things. Are you a morning person? Do you have winter blues? If you both answers are yes, I would make your plans for the next day at night, while you are in a comfy spot with a cup of tea or other treat. Think about the day ahead and decide what should go where. Build in moments of both rest and reward after each main activity. And keep in mind when you are at your best so you can plan the activities that need your clear thinking & creativity to happen during those times. Hope this helps! :)

I think you just described my daughter's and my day. Both of us know we need to organize but finding the right organization is hard to do. So we go on with organized chaos :)

Put yourself first and let others fend for themselves. Your hubby is an adult, he can take care of himself. Your projects are important so decide the day before (or week or morning) what's most important on your to do list that will move the needle forward, and do that without fail. It's your highest priority, nothing else matters. Finally, give yourself a break when you need one. and keep going! :D

Treat your work from home job as you would a regular 9 to 5. In the morning, wake and dress for work, gulp down some coffee, and off you go. Sit down and get busy with no distractions. Don't do a load of laundry, run errands, play with the dogs or watch TV. And most importantly, don't lounge around in sweats, staring out the window. You wouldn't want to have to fire yourself.
