Happy New Year

Welcome to 2018! Someone one said a new year is a blank book of 365 pages so write a good one. I like that. A whole new year is stretched out before me and it's up to me how the story goes. My decisions, my doings or not doings, make my year.  Sure, the people in my life will affect my decisions but still, in the long run, it's still my decisions.

One of the first things I've decided is to reread The Traveler's Gift by Andy Andrews. I totally, totally recommend you read this. It's a life-changer if you apply the principles within.

For example...The buck stops here. Yes, we've all heard this before but have we applied it? Do we take responsibility for our actions? Do we take control of our thoughts, words, actions? When something goes wrong, do we shift the blame to others or accept it when it is our fault?

Many times I tend to let things just happen. I mean, if I don't act, then I haven't made a choice so it's not my fault if things go wrong. Right?  Nope, by choosing to not act, I'm acting. I made the decision to do nothing and now I have to live with the consequences of that action. Not fun sometimes.

So, today I encourage you...get a copy of The Traveler's Gift.  Read it...read it again, and then apply the principles within.  You'll be glad you did.

Taking responsibility, or I should say, NOT taking responsibility is my biggest gripe with people.

Totally understand. It annoys me too.

I tend to try to be honest with myself when something bad happens. Sometimes it means I DO pass the blame. But only when I truly believe I am in the right. It's tough to be objective with oneself, but essential as well. As for that book, putting it on my reading list, which grows and grows. I used to have more time to read. Life, you know. It can be time consuming. :) Happy New Year to you as well.

I have a huge "to read" pile too. You'll be glad you read this one. I actually bought a copy for all my kids, hubby, and a hard copy for myself to go with the copy on my kindle. :-)

Happy New Year!

Not choosing is most definitely a choice! Haven't read the book, but in my training as a gestalt therapist that was one of the pillars. You simply can not not chose, ever!

It's a hard lesson...not choosing is really choosing. And living with the consequences of not choosing most always isn't fun either.

One of the greatest lessons that I have learned is that I am 100% responsible for everything that shows up in my life! Thank you for the reminder.

And thanks for the book suggestion of, "The Traveler's Gift" - I will go and get a copy today and start reading it. One of the things I am going to do this year is read at least 20 minutes a day. This sounds like a great place to start!

It's an awesome book. Do let me know what you think of it. :-) And yes, to the 100% responsible thing. I need to make time to read more on a regular basis also. I tend to get busy and not read, then I have to binge read to make up for it. Have a great year!

When you get through the rest of your read pile. :-) Which is going to take forever if you continue to buy books like you have been.

I love the idea of 365 blank pages! Because I love the idea of all those deliciously wonderful days you could create, without the pressure of "making it a good YEAR." And each day, you get a new start. Wishing you and all of us a great UBC month!
